YAOUNDE, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Central African Republic President Francois Bozize hails the deep-rooted friendship with China since the former French colony won independence in 1960.

The Central African Republic is grateful to the Chinese government for its long-standing support for peace and economic reconstruction, and will further the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, the president told visiting Chinese envoy Yang Jing on Tuesday.

On behalf of Chinese President Hu Jintao, Yang arrived in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, to attend the celebrations of the country's 50th anniversary of independence, according to the Chinese Embassy officials.

Conveying warm congratulations from the Chinese president, government and people, Yang said the two countries have witnessed quick development in bilateral relations in recent years.

There have been frequent high-level exchanges of visits between the two countries and steady progress within the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the Chinese envoy said.

The Chinese government is ready to work together with the government of the Central African Republic to enhance pragmatic cooperation in all fields and bring bilateral relations to a new level, Yang pledged.

China wishes continuous headway in efforts by the Central African country to seek peace and development, the Chinese envoy said.
