VIENNA, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Austria have much experience to share in "creative" industries and should strengthen their cooperation in the field, a Hong Kong trade official said here Tuesday.

"Like Austria, creative industries are important economic drivers for Hong Kong and can be a powerhouse for future growth," said Stephen Kai Wong, director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Berlin.0 The Hong Kong trade official in charge of operations in east and central Europe made the remark while addressing a Chinese New Year reception hosted in Vienna by his office.

He told some 300 guests, including some Austrian political, trade and cultural officials, that Hong Kong "has developed a leading edge in key areas of creative industries like film, television, music, design, architecture, comics and animation, games and digital entertainment, etc."

As an example of cooperation in the creative industries between the two sides, Wong said his office sponsored the production of a TV documentary on Hong Kong cuisine for broadcast in Austria in 2010.

Noting that both sides have bounced back strongly from the economic recession in 2009, he said bilateral trade increased by about 13 percent in 2010.
