Christchurch language school's missing people revised to 61

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- The number of people missing from a language school in Christchurch's Canterbury Television building which was toppled by Tuesday's earthquake has been revised up to 61 on Saturday.

The directors of the King's Education's English and healthcare schools have been trying to track down more than 100 students known to have been in Christchurch at the time of the earthquake.

The directors said they now believed that nine staff and 52 students are missing and presumed to have been in the building when it collapsed.

The group includes 26 students from Japan, 14 from China, seven from the Philippines, three from Thailand, one from South Korea and one from Czechoslovakia, Radio New Zealand said.

The directors said the whereabouts of another 21 students remains unknown.
