KHARTOUM, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- A total of 175 Sudanese evacuees arrived in Khartoum on Monday from Egypt's Alexandria by a Sudanese plane after they fled from unrest-hit Libya across the Egyptian border crossing of al-Salum with Libya.

"Some 400 others are expected to be transported from Aswan and Alexandria in Egypt on Monday and Tuesday morning," Faqery Hassan Osman, spokesman of an emergency operation room for evacuating Sudanese nationals from Libya, told Xinhua.

He explained that security conditions in Libyan capital Tripoli made it impossible for Sudanese authorities to evacuate thousands of Sudanese by plane, "we are ready to send planes to Tripoli whenever it is possible."

"We will send four flights in the coming two days to transport the Sudanese nationals from Libya through Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt. We will also steer sea trips to bring them home," Ahmed Karamano, Sudanese minister at Council of Ministers told reporters.

Karar al-Tuhamy, secretary-general of Sudanese Expatriates Organ, told reporters that "the Sudanese government has provided all the necessary requirements to evacuate the Sudanese from Libya. "

He explained that the land evacuation process would be across the eastern Libyan borders, the Egyptian border cities of al-Salum and Marsa Matroh and the Sudanese city of Halfa, adding that some of the Sudanese would be evacuated through Tunisia.

Around 500,000 Sudanese live in many Libyan towns, most of them from the Darfur region which has been suffering a civil war since 2003.
