SANAA, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Tuesday accused Israel and the United States of plotting the wave of unrest against the Arab world amid mass protest against him in the capital.

"What happened in the Arab world is plotted by Israel and run by the White House through manipulating international media," said Saleh in the press conference held in Sanaa to ease the mounting political tensions and find solution to stave off spreading unrest to his nation.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands anti-government protesters on Tuesday went to the streets across Yemen on a "day of rage," calling for ending the 33-year rule of President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

"The people wants to downfall President Saleh and his regime," protesters reportedly shouted the same slogan in the capital of Sanaa and other major provinces.
