Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said the state of Western Australia is rich in resources and is reciprocal with China's economy.

The cooperation between China and Western Australia has a huge potential and plays an important role in cooperation between the two countries, Jia said, noting that China has become the biggest trade partner and largest export market of the state.

Exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in trade, economy, science, technology, culture, education and tourism have been deepened, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples.

In the field of trade and economy, both sides should establish strategic cooperation ties in energy resources and strengthen cooperation in the fields including energy conservation and clean energy.

For the two countries, Jia said under new circumstances, the reciprocal need and common benefits of both countries have been continuously increasing.

A sound China-Australia relationship is not only conducive to the fundamental benefits of the two countries and peoples, but also to the peace, stability and development of the Asia-Pacific region.

Kenneth Michael, governor of Western Australia, appreciated Jia 's article published on The West Australian newspaper on Tuesday illustrating China's peaceful, harmonious and cooperative development idea, as well as his view on further advancement of the bilateral relations.

The state of West Australia attaches great importance to its relations with China and cooperation in various fields, he said.

Colin Barnett, premier of the state, said China is already Australia's No. 1 trade partner and the state is proud to see the fact that 70 percent of China's trade with Australia and 80 percent of China's investment to the country go to Western Australia.

Barnett welcomes more Chinese companies to expand business and investment in the state, saying that the state will provide assistance and convenience to bilateral cooperation.

Jia arrived here on Tuesday for a 6-day visit to Australia, the second stop of his three-nation tour, which will also take him to Samoa. Jia visited Myanmar before he came to Australia.
