CHIAYI, Taiwan, April 29 (Xinhua) -- The families of some of those Chinese mainland tourists who died or were injured in Wednesday's train accident in Taiwan arrived in Chiayi County Friday morning.

Twenty-four people, including 18 relatives of two deceased tourists and several others seriously injured as well as six mainland officials and tour workers, from Qingdao in east China's Shandong Province, arrived in Taiwan on a flight from Hong Kong.

A small train overturned in Taiwan's Ali Mountain area in Chiayi County Wednesday, killing five tourists from the mainland and injuring more than 100 others.

A total of 43 injured mainland tourists had been discharged from a local hospital as of 4 p.m. Thursday, while 66 others were still receiving treatment.

Relatives of two of the five deceased, Xu Xifen and Ma Ruiyun, rushed to a local funeral home in Chiayi upon arrival to have a last glance of their loved ones and mourned for them.

Liu Xiaohong couldn't help crying as she knelt in front of her mother Ma Ruiyun's photo. "I didn't expect you to go away so suddenly and in this way."

Luo Wanfei, deputy director of Qingdao tourism bureau, said relatives of the injured were sent upon arrival to six hospitals to see their family members.

"As to whether the bodies of the deceased will be cremated here and then taken back, we'll respect the relatives' wishes," Luo said.

Families of other mainland tourists killed or injured in the accident are expected to arrive in Chiayi later on Friday.
