SEOUL, May 6 (Xinhua) -- The 2011 G-Global Aviation, South Korea's largest aviation and aerospace exhibition, is underway in Ansan, about 42 kilometers south of Seoul in Gyeonggi Province, on Friday.

The exhibition, which began on May 5 and will continue through May 10 under the theme "Drawing Dreams and Wishes in the Sky," features world-class air shows, aircraft exhibitions and other participatory programs. It drew about 150,000 visitors on the opening day.

Different types of aircraft parts from fighter planes, cargo craft, guided weapons and other aviation weapons systems went on display. Also on display were equipment for developing simulation software for the T-50 trainer jets and various other electronic gears developed and operated by the South Korean Air Force. The Black Eagles, the aerobatic team for the Air Force, performed formation flying with T-50 trainer jets. Spectators were in awe as aerobatic pilots performed various jaw-dropping tricks.

Visitors were able to enjoy a flying experience. "I was thrilled, pleased and a little bit scared when I went up to the sky," said 13-year-old Kim Hyun-woo after his flying experience.

Pilots put on live flying demonstrations including skydiving practices. The exhibition showcased up to 100 airplanes from ultralight aircraft to model helicopters. "The G-Global Aviation, now in its third year, sees more development every year. Great performances by the Black Eagles and pilots from around the world will excite and entertain the people," Kim Moon-soo, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, said on the opening day.

Children were able to have chances of experiencing aerospace flight simulation and dressing themselves in a spacesuit. Gyeonggi Province has hosted the G-Global Aviation exhibition since 2009 in an attempt to secure the momentum to further develop the industry, promote interest in the airline industry and expand aviation culture, according to a provincial government statement.
