Chabal left out of squad

05-12-2011 17:18 BJT

Sebastien Chabal has been left out of the 32-strong French squad to take part in the World Cup in New Zealand from September 9 to October 23.

Capped 62 times for his country, the experienced back-rower Chabal is hugely popular with the fans in France and has long been seen as a driving force in the pack.

But his recent performances for the national side have been poor and coach Marc Lievremont has decided to put his faith in Louis Picamoles and the uncapped Raphael Lakafia to fill the void left by Chabal.

Also left out of the squad were veteran center Yannick Jauzion who appears to have paid the price for some inconsistent displays as France lost their Six Nations crown earlier this year.
