ZHOUSHAN, China, May 29 (Xinhua) -- China overpowered Cuba 3-0 here on Sunday evening for its second straight victory at the 2011 China international women's volleyball tournament.

Following Saturday's straight sets triumph over Dominican Republic, the Chinese women reaped an unexpected easy win 25-11, 25-11 and 25-21 against Cuba.

"Cuba is a very strong team and we made very good preparation before this game," said China head coach Yu Juemin. "I think our captain and setter Wei Qiuyue did a good job today in the distribution of attacking opportunities which made it possible for us to display our quick balanced attack."

Hui Ruoqi notched up game-high 12 points with Wang Yimei and Xu Yunli adding 11 and 10 respectively.

"It' s not easy for Wang and Xu, because they were just coming back from injuries. Today they both played well and helped us a lot."

Dropping the first two sets sluggishly, the Cuban team finally could get their offense going, racing to a 5-3 lead in the third set. But China staged a 10-4 run to overtake the lead at 13-9 and held on to seal the victory in 62 minutes.

Cuba head coach Gala Rod Juan Carlos found it really hard for his team to tear open the defense put up by the 1.92-meter Yang Jie, 1.90-meter Yang Junjing and 1.89-meter Hui Ruoqi.

"(Compared with the previous Chinese team) It's more difficult to score against their block," said Juan Carlos.

The towering trio contributed two stuffs each and the Chinese team finished with nine blocking points, compared with four for Cuba."

"China also did very well in their services while we had big trouble in reception," Juan Carlos added.

The Chinese produced six aces, among which Hui contributed three.

After Sunday's actions, the hosts led the standings with two wins against no loss, followed by Cuba and Dominican Republic (1-1) while the Netherlands were at the bottom with two straight defeats.

The four-team round robin tournament will conclude on Monday with China plays the Netherlands while Cuba takes on Dominican Republic.
