Chinese president appoints six new ambassadors

BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao has appointed six new ambassadors to foreign countries, according to a statement from the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) on Wednesday.

Hu made the appointments in line with decision made by the Standing Committee of the NPC, the nation's top legislature.

Sun Haichao was appointed ambassador to Central African Republic, replacing Shi Hu.

Liao Liqiang was appointed ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, replacing Zhang Yuanyuan.

Zhou Yuxiao was appointed ambassador to Zambia, replacing Li Qiangmin.

Hu Shan was appointed ambassador to the Bahamas, replacing Hu Dingxian.

Zheng Qingdian was appointed ambassador to Jamaica, replacing Chen Jinghua.

Xiao Qinghua was appointed ambassador to Turkmenistan, replacing Wu Hongbin.
