HK honors 332 people for distinguished services

HONG KONG, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's chief executive Donald Tsang has accorded awards to 332 people in this year's Honors List, with politician Leung Chun-ying and Ocean Park chairman Allan Zeman granted the Grand Bauhinia Medals (GBM), announced the city government early Friday.

Leung, the Convenor of the Non-Official Members of the Executive Council, was awarded the GBM in recognition of his long and distinguished public service, while Zeman, also the founder of the Lan Kwai Fong entertainment area in the Central, was praised for his distinguished public and community service, said the government in a statement.

Of the 332 awardees, 16 are Gold, 30 Silver and 54 Bronze Bauhinia Star recipients.

The late Ken Leung, Fu Cheuk-yan and Masa Tse have been awarded the Gold Medal for Bravery, for showing exceptional courage and gallantry in the Manila hostage tragedy in August, 2010.

Nine have been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, 43 the Meritorious Service Medal, and 71 the Medal of Honor.

The presentation ceremony will be held in October.
