PSV sign Strootman and Mertens, Wijnaldum coming up

THE HAGUE, Jul. 3(Xinhua) -- PSV took over Kevin Strootman and Dries Mertens from FC Utrecht. Both players signed a contract for five years on Sunday in Eindhoven.

Earlier this week both clubs already agreed on an alleged total transfer fee of thirteen million Euro' s. That deal was made public after the municipality of Eindhoven promised to support PSV for almost fifty million Euro' s.

Mertens already underwent his medical examination earlier this week and on Sunday Strootman was successfully tested as well.

Besides Strootman Georginio Wijnaldum also had his medical examination on Sunday in Eindhoven. The 20-year-old midfielder from Feyenoord will probably be presented on Monday. According to reports PSV will pay Feyenoord five million Euro' s for Wijnaldum.

The 21-year-old Strootman started his career at Sparta Rotterdam and moved from the Dutch second division club to Utrecht in this year' s January transfer window. Since his move he developed himself into a Dutch international. The 24-year-old Belgian international Mertens had played for FC Utrecht since 2009.
