WELLINGTON, July 23 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand Prime Minister John Key said the Norway attacks are an act of global terrorism.

"I think it shows that no country is immune from that risk," Key said after a meeting with President Barack Obama at the White House on Friday.

Key said that is why New Zealand is part of the operation in Afghanistan, "trying to make the world a safer place," Radio New Zealand reported on Saturday.

A powerful bomb blast rocked central Oslo on Friday afternoon, in an area near the office of Norway's prime minister and oil ministry. At least seven were killed.

The Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg was not hurt in the incident.

The blast was followed by a shooting at a small island west of Oslo, which killed at least 10 people.
