DUBAI, July 22 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday strongly condemned the "powerful terror explosion" in Oslo, which rocked government headquarters, and the shooting at a youth camp on an island outside the Norwegian capital, the official news agency WAM reported.

"The UAE condemns in the strongest possible terms these terrible, appalling crimes and expresses its full solidarity and standing with the government of Norway in confronting these criminal acts," Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan was quoted as saying in a statement.

He also expressed heart-felt condolences to the victims' families and wished speedy recovery to those injured in the attacks, the report said.

At least five people were injured when a man disguised as a policeman opened fire at a meeting of the youth wing of Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg's party on Friday, according to Norwegian public broadcaster NRK.

The shooting came hours after a massive blast in Oslo that killed at least two people and injured 19 others.
