RIO DE JANEIRO, July 24 (Xinhua) -- On the road against leader Corinthians in the 11th round of the 2011 Brazilian Championship, Cruzeiro won 1-0 on Sunday.

The result marked Corinthians' first defeat of the tournament, the end of a three-game spree without suffering a goal and the end of a seven-game winning streak.

The game's only goal was scored by Wallyson. Early in the second half, the player took full advantage of Corinthians' keeper Renan's poor positioning and lofted an excellent shot over the goalie and into the open goal.

Cruzeiro's win takes the team to seventh place with 18 points. In the next round of play, the team will travel to face Atletico-GO on July 27.

Despite the loss, Corinthians remains in first place with 28 points. In the next round of competition, the team will travel to face Avai on July 31.
