SYDNEY, July 31 (Xinhua) -- An exhibition of about 200 photographs was held in Sydney on Sunday to mark the centenary of China's 1911 Revolution led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen.

The photo show, held in Sydney Convention and Exhibition Center, was co-hosted by China's Xinhua News Agency, China's Consulate- General in Sydney and Australian Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China (ACPPRC).

It consists of the photos of Sun's early life, the key moments of his legendary revolutionary career, repeated democratic uprisings and the following 1911 Revolution that toppled the Qing Dynasty, eventually ending China's monarchy of over 2,000 years.

Duan Jielong, China' Consul-General in Sydney, congratulated on the success of Xinhua Gallery. He said the 1911 Revolution is of great historic significance in China and deserves all forms of commemoration.

Duan said the 1911 Revolution represents the spirit of national unity and patriotism. He said the Chinese people should bear in mind the revolutionary spirit and work hard to fulfill Dr. Sun Yat- sen's dream to rejuvenate Chinese nation and realize state reunification.

The "Xinhua Gallery" was initiated by Xinhua News Agency in 2010 in an effort to boost China's cultural exchanges with other nations through displaying selected photos. The "Xinhua Gallery" has been carried out in more than 20 countries around the world.
