08-01-2011 15:17 BJT

BANGKOK, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- The incoming main government coalition Pheu Thai party on Monday agreed to nominate Somsak Kiatsuranont as a new House Speaker and Charoen Chankomol and Wisut Chainarun as deputies.

The election-winner Pheu Thai held a party meeting at about 9. 30 a.m. and finally reached an agreement for the next House Speaker and deputies.

Somsak is a Pheu Thai MP from northeastern Khon Kaen province. He used to be a Deputy House Speaker in 1997 as well as Minister of Culture under Samak Sundaravej government and Minister of Justice under Somchaay Wongsawat administration in 2008.

Charoen is a Pheu Thai MP from northeastern Chaiyabhum and Wisut an MP from northern Payao.

According to the Secretariat of the House of Representatives' statement, the first parliamentary meeting would be convened on Wednesday, August 2 at the Parliament compound at 9.30 a.m.

In the meeting agendas, a House Speaker and two deputies would be voted by the members of the House. Given that the incoming government seizes 300 House seats out of total 500, all nominated candidates are likely to pass voting.

After receiving royal endorsement, the new House Speaker will then hold another meeting to vote for new prime minister which is expected on August 5. Yingluck Shinawatra, the top list candidate from Pheu Thai, will be nominated.
