Three killed in light plane crash in St. Petersburg

MOSCOW, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed when a private light plane crashed in an area south of St. Petersburg, Russia's RIA Novosti news agency reported Tuesday.

The plane crashed into the Tigoda River close to the Kusino village in the country's northwestern Leningrad Region around 9 p.m. local time (1700 GMT) on Monday. Three bodies were discovered inside the plane when it was recovered from the river, the agency reported, quoting local emergencies ministry.

Specialists sent by the ministry are currently working at the crash scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
