Average price of Macao's residential units up 15.7 pct in Q2

MACAO, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- The average transaction price of Macao's residential units increased by 15.7 percent quarter-on-quarter to 44,269 patacas (5,533 U.S. dollars) per square meter of usable area in the second quarter of 2011, according to the figures released on Wednesday by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

The average transaction price of those in the Macao Peninsula, Taipa Island and Coloane Island increased by 13.8 percent, 27.1 percent and 3.9 percent from the previous quarter to 42,296 patacas (5,287 U.S. dollars), 42,457 patacas (5,307 U.S. dollars) and 70,098 patacas (8,762 U.S. dollars) per square meter respectively, according to the data.

Meanwhile, the average price of large residential units registered notable increase, with those having an area between 100 square meters and 149.9 square meters soaring by 31.8 percent quarter-on-quarter to 51,392 patacas (6,424 U.S. dollars) per square meter, and increase in the average price of residential units with an area smaller than 50 square meters slowed down to rise by 3.5 quarter-on-quarter, reaching 36,355 patacas (4,544 U.S. dollars) per square meter.

The figures also indicated that a total of 8,255 residential units were purchased and sold at 33.26 billion patacas (4.15 billion U.S. dollars) in the second quarter of 2011, down by 81.3 percent and 1.5 times respectively over the previous quarter.

In the second quarter of 2011, gross floor area of buildings completed totaled 476,380 square meters, altogether providing 389 units, according to the data.
