DPRK condemns US-South Korea joint military drill

08-18-2011 10:18 BJT

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has denounced ongoing US-South Korea military drills as an attempt to ignite a war. On Wednesday the KRT News quoted a statement from the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea as saying, the involvement of military personnel who participated in the Korean War exposed Washington and Seoul's "scenario to ignite the second Korean War."

The statement says the 11-day Ulji Freedom Guardia war games, which started on Tuesday, pose "a grave challenge" to all the peace-loving people on the Korean Peninsula and represented "an unpardonable heinous provocation" against the DPRK.

KRT News presenter said, "Our stance to preserve peace and denuclearization on the peninsula through dialogue and negotiations hasn't been changed. However, no attempt to harm the DPRK by force of army can occur with dialogue. This will only bring out the merciless counteraction of our style."
