SINGAPORE, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese futures company GF Futures (Hong Kong) has joined Singapore Exchange as its first Chinese member, the exchange said on Monday.

The admission of GF Futures to the derivatives market of the exchange shows that Asian customers are increasingly keen to have direct access to the internationalized suite of products offered by Singapore Exchange (SGX), said Chew Sutat, head of sales and clients at the company.

"With its extensive network and customer base across China, including Hong Kong, GF Futures' entry will enrich participation in our market," he said.

Cheng Xiao, general manager of GF Futures, said it is an important step for the internationalization of GF Group.

"By joining SGX, we will further enhance our understanding of Singapore and Asian markets and our customers can more easily access SGX's extensive suite of derivatives products," he said.

GF Futures (Hong Kong) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of GF Futures, part of the Guangzhou-based GF Group. The Hong Kong company is a center for research of the international futures markets and an engineering center of futures and other derivatives products, as well as a base to train global-oriented professionals.

The derivatives market of the SGX now has 36 trading members and 37 clearing members. The securities market of the exchange has 30 trading members and 29 clearing members.
