The Local Organising Committee of the Universiade and the Shenzhen government have rebranded the entire city with displays such as billboards, ornaments and flags.

“Shenzhen is the city of the future, they are displaying it with colourful patterns, that’s why we are taking our kids to this place” one parent said.

“We are feeling the pressure of living, however here we can feel part of the cities transformation.”

In hope for a better future, some Chinese people say the games will bring good opportunities for their children.

The Observers were unsure, what in fact the meaning of the display was or if in fact it had any meaning at all.

Cao Xian Gang, a local property manager, said “Shenzhen is the window of the world, this display attracts many children from all around the city, just like Shenzhen attracts People from all around the world.”

Most parents feel that Shenzhen can now provide a better education and better opportunities to its children.

“Maybe one day my daughter will be able to support me, like I support my mother,” Zhang Xu Liang said.
