The Chinese National Triathlon Champions Cup was held to heat up the upcoming the 2011 ITU World Championship Series-Grand Final Beijing on Wednesday.

Jiang Zhihang from Bayi and Xin Lingxi from Chengdu topped the male and female elite groups respectively.

"I was satisfied with myself today," said Xin. "Swimming is my favourite part."

"I won a battle against myself, and getting better is always my goal in any competition," said Jiang.

Both gold medalists gave good comments on the venues, which were located in Shisanling Reservoir Zone, and were used as the competition fields at 2008 Beijing Olympics and Paralympics.

As the final stage of the ITU World Champinship Series, Beijing Worlds attracted more than 2500 participants from all over the world, including athletes, officials, organizers and technicians. It was the largest and highest level international triathlon competition ever held in this country.

The elite groups of the worlds, which were related to London Olympics qualification, were scheduled to start on Sept. 10, and the Aquathon event had already begun after the four-event Chinese national competition.

The opening ceremony of the competition was to be staged on Thursday.
