Turkish parliament speaker meets senior CPC official on ties

ANKARA, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- China is willing to coordinate efforts with Turkey to continuously deepen political mutual trust, broaden cooperation and enrich the strategic cooperation connotation, visiting Communist Party of China (CPC) official Zhang Gaoli said on Monday.

Zhang, a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau as well as the CPC Tianjin Municipality Committee chief, made the remarks when meeting with Turkish Grand National Assembly Speaker Cemil Cicek.

Zhang noted that the friendly cooperative relationship between China and Turkey had progressed smoothly since the establishment of diplomatic ties and the relationship was promoted to a strategic level last year.

For his part, Cemil Cicek said Turkey and China enjoy close relationship despite the long distance between the two countries, adding that political trust had been strengthened, cooperation deepened, and the two sides have carried out frequent high-ranking visits in recent years.

He expressed hope that the friendly cooperation could make more progress under collective efforts of both sides.

Zhang also held talk with Abdulkadir Aksu, first deputy chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party at its headquarters on Monday.

Zhang arrived in Ankara on Monday, leading a CPC delegation.
