ULAN BATOR, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- A delegation from China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region visited Mongolia's capital Tuesday to promote bilateral media cooperation, local press said Wednesday.

Tsegmid Tsengel, lawmaker of the Mongolian State Great Khural (parliament) and vice chairman of the Mongolian-Chinese Parliamentary Group, received the delegation led by Liu Yongxin, head of the Radio, TV and Movie Bureau of China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The Mongolian lawmaker warmly welcomed the Inner Mongolian delegation in the Mongolian government house. At the beginning of the meeting, Tsengel noted cooperation and relations between Mongolia and China are expanding, and that the number of high-level visits has been increasing every year.

The Mongolian lawmaker emphasized the importance of media cooperation, which acts as a bridge between the two countries by offering an insight into the development situation and lifestyles of each country.

"Mongolian people like to watch Inner Mongolian TV channels. Radio and TV channels and programs bring people of the two countries closer and lift friendship and cooperation," Tsengel said.

The lawmaker said that in particular, organizing cultural and sports events among youth, and producing programs and stories that share the best work practices would further boost cooperation between the two countries. Moreover, Tsengel said he believed cooperation between the two countries' media sectors would continue to expand.

Liu thanked the lawmaker for his warm reception, and noted this is the fourth time for Inner Mongolian journalists to visit Mongolia.

"We have been working with Mongolian National Public TV and Radio for many years and during this visit, we revised the bilateral cooperation agreement between the Mongolian and Inner Mongolian TV and radio stations, and signed a memorandum of understanding," he said.
