As one of the five parallel chapters of this year's Euro-Asia Economic Forum, the session aims at promoting cultural heritage protection, tourism cooperation and sustainable development among the economies from Europe and Asia, especially among the countries situated along the Silk Road.

More than 300 foreign officials, entrepreneurs, academics and experts attended on Friday the opening ceremony of the conferences, jointly hosted by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage of China and Shaanxi provincial government.

Two parallel meetings, both due on Saturday, will focus on cultural heritage protection and tourism cooperation respectively.

As the starting point of the Silk Road that prospered during the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the Tang West Market has become a new landmark for Xi'an and a spectacular tourist attraction in Shaanxi.

In addition, the 2011 Tang West Market Cultural Relics Festival is set to be held at the Tang West Market from September 27 to October 7.
