09-27-2011 08:27 BJT

ASHGABAT, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov met Monday with visiting Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Meng Jianzhu.

During their talks, Meng said that given the gravity of the security situation in Central Asia, it is imperative that China and Turkmenistan further enhance law enforcement cooperation.

He suggested that the two sides fully use the security subcommittee of China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Committee as an important platform to improve their cooperation mechanism, take sterner measures to combat the "three evil forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism, and deepen bilateral and multilateral security cooperation so as to create a peaceful environment for common development.

Berdymukhamedov, for his part, said Turkmenistan attaches great importance to law enforcement cooperation with China.

Turkmenistan stands ready to expand cooperation with China to fight the "three evil forces" within bilateral and multilateral frameworks in a bid to safeguard the security of the two nations and regional peace and stability, he said.

During his stay in the Central Asian country, Meng also exchanged views with Turkmen Internal Affairs Minister Isgender Mulikov and National Security Minister Yaylym Berdiyev on cooperation in areas of security and law enforcement.
