Chinese political advisor urges closer ties with W. Asian, African countries

WEIFANG, China, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese political advisor Sun Jiazheng on Tuesday called for closer party-to-party exchanges between China and West Asian and African countries.

"The Communist Party of China is willing to step up exchanges and cooperation with political parties of West Asian and African countries to deepen the traditional friendship with, and political trust in each other," said Sun, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, as he met with former Prime Minister of Jordan Abdul Salam Majali and a group of ambassadors to China.

Majali and ambassadors from Sudan, Yemen and Palestine, among others, are in the eastern Chinese city of Weifang to attend a forum for promoting cooperation between medium- and small-sized enterprises from China and West Asian and African countries.

Sun hailed the progress that has been made between China and West Asian and African countries in recent years in various areas, especially in terms of economic cooperation.

He called on the political parties in the countries concerned to look for new channels of cooperation so as to achieve new and substantial fruits of cooperation between the countries.
