Vietnam to host 80th Interpol General Assembly

HANOI, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- The 80th General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) will be convened in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Oct. 31, with participation of more than 1,200 delegates from 188 countries and regions being Interpol members, announced the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on Wednesday.

Under the theme, "Connecting Police for a Safer World-Strong partnerships, innovation and capacity building", the conference will review implementation of the related resolutions approved by the Interpol in fighting and preventing crimes, exchanging experience among Interpol member countries, as well as deploying Interpol's programs and plans in the context of globalization and integration, reported MPS.

The event, hosted by Vietnam for the first time, confirmed the country's pledge in cooperating with international partners to fight and prevent cross-nation crimes, said Major-General Vu Hung Vuong, deputy head of the General Department for Crime Prevention.
