Chinese FM meets U.S. Under-Secretary of State

BEIJING, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on Wednesday called on China and the United States to push bilateral relations toward the right track.

Yang made the remarks in a meeting with visiting U.S. Under-Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.

The stable development of bilateral ties is in line with the fundamental interests of the two countries and is good for the world, Yang said, adding that China and the U.S. should diligently implement a series of important consensuses reached by their leaders, strengthen communication and expand cooperation.

China and the U.S should respect each other's core interests and properly deal with sensitive issues, Yang said.

The development of bilateral ties and cooperation is in line with the fundamental interests of the two peoples, said Sherman, noting that the U.S. is firmly committed to it.

Yang and Sherman also exchanged views on international and regional issues.
