Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, called on the two states to give full play to the roles of their parliaments in promoting friendly exchanges at various levels and in different fields so as to further bilateral ties.

The two sides could also enhance exchanges of experience in governance, as well as the building of democracy and legislation, Wu said.

Berdymukhamedov said his country will strive for a steady, long-term relationship with China, and will speed up cooperation in such sectors as energy, trade, economy and culture.

He also pledged to support exchanges between the two parliaments and ruling parties as the two countries explore their own modes of development based on their respective domestic situations.
