Honda recalls 273,000 vehicles in U.S. on airbag concerns

12-03-2011 09:00 BJT

CHICAGO, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Honda on Friday announced that it will recall approximately 273,000 vehicles sold in the U.S. to replace the driver's airbag inflator.

Honda said Friday in a statement that the affected driver's airbag inflators may deploy with too much pressure, which can cause the inflator casing to rupture and could result in injury or fatality.

The recall includes certain 2001-2003 model-year Honda and Acura vehicles. Honda said the vehicle owners should take their vehicle to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive mailed notification from Honda.
