Cargo plane veers off runway at Singapore airport, no injuries

SINGAPORE, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- A cargo plane skidded off the runway at Singapore's Changi Airport on Friday afternoon, leading to several flight delays and diversions, the Changi Airport Group said.

The aircraft veered off the runway after landing. No injuries or damage were reported and the aircraft was able to taxi on its own to the parking bay, it said in a statement.

The runway was closed for inspection and re-opened at after some 80 minutes at about 6pm.

Some departing flights were delayed and five Singapore Airlines and SilkAir planes were diverted to land at the Paya Lebar Air Base in Singapore.

Some other flights were diverted to Johor and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, the airport said. No details on the cause of the accident were disclosed yet.
