PNA condemns video of Israeli soldiers humiliating Palestinians

12-03-2011 22:27 BJT

RAMALLAH, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) on Saturday condemned a video showing Israeli soldiers humiliating two Palestinians they had just detained.

"We strongly condemn what came in the video," said Ghassan al- Khatib, spokesman for the Palestinian government in the West Bank. "This unfortunately expresses a daily routine in which Palestinian people (are) insulted by the occupation army or settlers."

The video clip was first aired by Israel's Channel 2 Friday evening. It shows soldiers humiliating two blindfolded youths who were arrested at a West Bank checkpoint.

The Israeli soldiers in the video were seen beating one of the captured and complaining that the youths "make trouble" for Israeli forces. One of the detained was handcuffed and half-naked.

Al-Khatib said that he hopes the video could help spark international condemnation and pressure on Israel to end the way it treats Palestinians in the West Bank.
