China to be actively engaged in cooperations with Europe: FM

BONN, Germany, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- China would be more actively engaged in cooperations with Poland, Italy and Turkey, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi pledged on Monday while meeting his counterparts of the above three countries.

Yang made the remarks on the sidelines of an international conference on Afghanistan held here in Bonn, west Germany.

Noting Poland's active role in European Union (EU) and eastern Europe, Yang said China has attached great importance to the bilateral relations with Poland and would be willing to promote further cooperations.

China would actively support EU in adopting measures to fight the ongoing sovereign debt crisis, and join in hands with Poland to elevate the Sino-EU cooperations, Yang said.

The Polish Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, expressed his hope in boosting bilateral communications at high-level and cooperations with China while assuming a constructive role in enhancing the Sino-EU relations.

The ministers also confirmed that both sides were committed to contribute further to the peaceful reconstruction of Afghanistan.

While meeting with his Italian counterpart Giulio Terzi di Sant' Agata, Yang spoke highly of the Sino-Italian relations, which set a model for other EU countries in terms of the strategic partnership.

China appreciates Italy's stance of one-China policy, Yang said, calling for removal of the obstacles that hampers the Sino-European relations.

Yang was confident that Italian government could overcome the eurozone debts crisis by its own efforts and with international support, and confirmed that China would import more from Italy and encourage more Chinese firms to invest in Italy.

Furthermore, Chinese government believed that EU has the wisdom and capability to overcome current fiscal straits and maintain the economic stability and growth, added Yang.

Giulio Terzi briefed Yang on the Italian government measures on fighting the eurozone debts crisis and said that Italy hoped to strengthen the bilateral strategical partnership, to promote cooperations with China in terms of political, economic and trade relations, in addition to sciences and technology and to contribute more to enhance Sino-EU ties.

During the meeting between Chinese and Turkish foreign ministers, Yang and Davutoglu expressed their common desires to intensify cooperations in various spheres that already have taken shape, and exchanged points of views on a wide range of international and regional issues of common concerns.
