Indonesian plans to replace national football coach

12-15-2011 19:13 BJT

JAKARTA, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI) is considering appointing Rahmad Darmawan, former coach of the country's under-23 national soccer team, as a replacement for current national team coach Wilhelmus "Wim" Gerardus Rijsbergen, local media reported on Thursday.

"We agreed that in February we would replace Wim with Rahmad. We had high hopes that he would've made the Indonesian national team a great one," Benhard Limbong, interim PSSI national team coach was quoted by the Jakarta Post as saying.

Limbong said he would reconsider Wim's fate and the revised coaching line-up in the wake of Rahmad's departure.

"We will evaluate things after finishing Indonesia versus Bahrain in the pre-World Cup match in February," he said.

Rahmad resigned from Indonesia's Under-23 national soccer team coach on Tuesday.
