SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- IBM on Monday announced its sixth annual "IBM Five in Five," a list of innovations that have the potential to change people's daily life over the next five years.

The Big Blue said the new Five in Five is based on market and societal trends as well as emerging technologies from its labs.

Some of the five possible innovations still look quite fancy such as "you will be able to power your home with the energy you create yourself." IBM said advances in renewable energy technology will allow individuals to collect the kinetic energy from anything that moves or produces heat, such as walking, jogging, bicycling and heat from the computer.

A password is no longer needed as biometric data, such as facial definitions, retinal scans and voice files, will be composited through software to build your DNA unique on-line password.

Mind reading will be no longer science fiction as scientists in the field of bioinformatics have designed devices with advanced sensors to read electrical brain activity that can recognize facial expressions, excitement and concentration levels, and thoughts of a person without them physically taking any actions. The application will be mainly around gaming and entertainment industry, as well as medical research, said IBM.

The junk mail will become priority mail as the unsolicited advertisements may fell so personalized and relevant in five years. IBM said it is developing technology that uses real-time analytics to make sense and integrate data from across all the facets of your life such as your social networks and on-line preferences to present and recommend information that is only useful to you.

The company also said the digital divide will cease to exist due to advances in mobile technology.

IBM said its "Five in Five" already has a record of success. In 2008, it suggested that consumers would talk to the web and the web would respond within five years. This year, Apple's artificial intelligence assistant Siri achieves this goal on the iPhone 4S.
