Renault-Nissan may become 3rd global seller in 2011

TOKYO, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- The President of Nissan Motor Co. Carlos Ghosh announced the Renault-Nissan alliance may rank 3rd globally on new car selling with over 8 million cars on the annual North American International Auto Show early Thursday.

According to Nissan, the second largest car maker in Japan, in spite of last year's nature disasters and economy chaos, the Renault-Nissan alliance sold about 8.03 million vehicles, including Nissan's totaled 4.67 million and Renault's 2.72 million units and AvtoVAZ's 638,000 units, up around 10 percent from 2010.

The data show that Nissan seems above Toyota Motor Corp., its chief rival which is estimated to have sold about 7.9 million vehicles last year.
