Afghan president condemns desecrating Taliban corpses by U.S. Marines

KABUL, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Afghan President Hamid Karzai has condemned the reported desecrating of Taliban corpses by U.S. Marines, a statement released by his office here on Thursday said.

"This is a deplorable act. Presidential Palace strongly condemns it and calling on the United States to initiate probe into the case and punish those responsible for the desecration," the statement added.

A clip posted on a website, according to media reports indicates that a group of U.S. Marine is urinating on the bodies of Taliban militants.

Taliban militants have also denounced the reported incident and the United States, according to media reports, has also began investigation, vowing to take disciplinary action against those committed desecration.

The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in a statement released here on Thursday also condemned the reported urinating on Taliban fighters' corpses.
