One American kidnapped in Nigeria: police

LAGOS, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- The police in southeast Nigeria's Delta State on Friday said an American citizen have been kidnapped by yet to be identified gunmen killing his mobile police escort in the process.

State police spokesperson Charles Muka disclosed this to Xinhua on phone, saying a manhunt have been launched for the kidnappers.

A Xinhua reporter in the state said the victim, Ock Greg, an engineer, was waylaid and abducted at Deco road, close to Olodi Primary school compound in the Oil-City of Warri by the gunmen at about 10:15 a.m. local time amidst sporadic shootings that led to the killing of the police escort.
