Georgia has new head coach for national rugby team

TBILISI, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- The new head coaches to the Georgian national rugby team on Friday arrived here to take up the post by signing their two-year contract with the Georgian Rugby Federation.

Milton Haige and Cris Gibs from New Zealand will replace Richard Dickson from Scotland as the head coaches. If they prove to be successful with that post, the Kiwis' contract will be extended for another two years.

Milton Haige has coached the national youth team of New Zealand.

Rugby is a national spectator sport in the South Caucasus country of Georgia which competed in the 2011 Rugby World Cup staged in New Zealand, where Georgia played England, Argentina, Scotland and Romania in Pool B.

The former head coach to the Georgian nationals, Richard Dickson, will stay with the Georgian Rugby Federation to assist with the development of the sport in the country.
