Castro denounces U.S. campaigns against Cuba

01-30-2012 13:02 BJT

Cuban President Raul Castro on Sunday denounced the U.S. campaigns against the Caribbean country at a Communist Party conference.

Castro said it was "necessary to denounce again the brutal anti-Cuba campaigns instigated by the U.S. government and some others who traditionally have been committed to subversion in our country."

He said the campaigns were aimed at discrediting the Cuban Revolution in the 1950s.

They "will not affect the Revolution or the Cuban people, who will continue to perfect socialism," he stressed.

At the second and final session of the two-day Cuban Communist Party national conference, he also urged the more than 800 delegates to fulfil the "300 Guidelines of Economic and Social Policy" approved at the party's 6th Congress last April.

The Cuban Revolution was led by former Cuban President Fidel Castro in 1953 to fight the regime of Fulgencio Batista, who was finally ousted in January 1959.
