Arab ministers to discuss sending observers to Syria in coordination with UN

CAIRO, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Arab League (AL) Deputy Secretary General Ahmed Bin Helli said a suggestion to form a mutual delegation of observers to Syria, in coordination with the United Nations, will be discussed in the Arab ministers meeting on Sunday, Egypt's official MENA news agency reported on Thursday.

Helli said the news about AL to withdraw its observers from Syria or terminate their work is "a rumor by media". He said the observers are in a holiday till the Arab ministers give their decisions in this regard.

He added that the ministers are likely to discuss in their meeting the latest developments in Syria, the Arab moves in diplomatic and political fields in addition to activating and developing the Arab observers' mission to Syria.

All Arab countries have the right to participate or not in the observing process, and 13 Arab countries out of 22 has joined the mission, added Helli.
