Adriano shows signs of improvement

RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- With only five days left before Corinthians head coach Tite has to finalize his list of the 25 players that will participate in the 2012 Libertadores Cup, Adriano showed signs that his physical conditioning has improved on Thursday.

During a training session among reserve players, Adriano scored three goals, causing club president Roberto de Andrade to give the 29-year-old accolades.

According to Andrade, Adriano has greatly improved over the past few weeks and is close to the level of play that everyone has been waiting for.

Despite the club's physical trainers' comments earlier in the week that putting Adriano into a match is risky and that he would not last more than 45 minutes, Adriano proved them wrong and gave a strong performance during the training. His performance was much better than that of last week when he appeared sluggish and hardly touched the ball during a friendly against the reserve players from Flamengo.

Adriano has professed his intent and desire to participate in the 2012 Libertadores Cup. However, he will have to make a good case for coach Tite who is currently working on narrowing down his roster of 31 players to only 25 that he will carry into the continental tournament.

Tite must hand in his list by February 14, the day before his team's debut in the competition against Deportiva Tachira in Group F.
