Philippine football team supports youth football festival

MANILA, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Philippine National football team is supporting the Calamba Football Festival (CFF) that aims to develop local football from the grassroots, local media reported Friday.

Team members including co-captain Emelio Caligdong, reserve goalkeeper Eduard Sacapano, defender Reymark Palmes, and team manager Dan Palami retired football veteran striker of Air Force FC Yanti Barsales, will attend the CFF's kickoff on February 9 to 12, according to a report filed by The Manila Times.

Calamba City Mayor Joaquin M. Chipeco Jr. said the year-round festival is a four-leg series featuring events of the boys under-9, under-13 and under-17 categories and girls under-17 level that will run till December.

The event will be held in Calamba city at the northern Philippine province of Laguna.
