Philippine Football Federation grants exclusive broadcasting rights to ABS-CBN

MANILA, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has renewed its contract with ABS-CBN, granting the country' s biggest broadcast network the exclusive right to air local football matches.

PFF President Mariano Araneta said the new four-year agreement will help popularize football in the country, according to a report filed by Thurrsday.

ABS-CBN Sports Division Vice President Peter Musngi said this agreement will help develop a new generation of football players in the country.

ABS-CBN Sports aired the first nationally televised matches of the national football team - more popularly known as Azkals in the 2010 Suzuki Cup.

The long-term four-year deal that will not only air Azkals' matches but will also provide exposure to the women's national team and the other youth men's teams.
