Indian FM to visit Egypt this week

NEW DELHI, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna will visit Egypt later this week. It will be the first high level visit to the country by an Indian official since political upheavals took place in that country last year, according to local daily Indian Express Thursday.

During the three-day visit, Krishna will co-chair the 6th meeting of the Joint Commission with his Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Kamel Amr on Sunday. The joint commission meeting will undertake a comprehensive review of the India-Egypt cooperation in areas of trade and economy, science and technology, culture and information technology, according to the report.

A number of agreements are likely to be signed by the two countries during the visit, the report quoted sources of the Ministry of External Affairs here as saying on Wednesday.
