RIO DE JANEIRO, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Head coach of the Brazilian men's national handball team Javier Garcia divulged his list of athletes on Wednesday that will attempt to earn a spot in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

In order for Brazil to earn a trip to London, it must pass through the Pre-Olympic competition. This year's preliminary tournament will take place in Sweden in April.

The list of 16 athletes includes players that play in Brazil as well as for international clubs. 13 of the 16 players currently play in Brazil and are scheduled to meet in Sao Paulo before traveling to Tunisia where they will meet up with Ales, Thiagus and Felipe Borges, all of whom play in Spain.

In Tunisia, Brazil will participate in three friendly matches in preparation for the Pre-Olympics. They are scheduled to play Tunisia, Macedonia and Hungry before traveling to Sweden.

The team's veteran guard, Bruno Souza, will be unable to participate in the Pre-Olympics due to a severe sprained right ankle. However, should the team qualify for the Olympics, Souza hopes to be able to defend Brazil in his team's quest for gold.
