Moutai reports 8.76 bln yuan profit in 2011

03-23-2012 15:34 BJT

GUIYANG, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Moutai, the fourth most valuable luxury brand in China according to the Hurun Report's 2011 list, reported a net profit of 8.76 billion yuan (about 1.39 billion U.S. dollars) in 2011, an increase of 73.49 percent over that of the previous year.

The Guizhou-based company has attributed the profit jump to increased sales and higher prices in 2011, according to the company's report.

The price of a 500 ml bottle of standard Moutai liquor now costs over 1,500 yuan following a recent series of price rises.

The report also showed that the company achieved an annual income of 18.4 billion yuan in 2011, an increase of 58.19 percent from 2010.

The company targets an annual sales income of 100 billion yuan in 2017.
